Admitted into school at the age of 3, I had the opportunity to study in +2 school in India, Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Senior Secondary School and Junior College, Chennai. This laid a solid foundation for my education.

The idea of taking up entrepreneurship evolved at the same time I started my Undergraduate program and that is the reason why I am also pursuing my Diploma in Business Management course. An inspiring speech from the Director of my college induced a spark and instilled confidence in me to take up the role of an entrepreneur. From then on world looked like a different place to me; my perspectives got refined. The corporate lessons sculptured me into becoming a fine professional engineer.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge. Fortunately I have faced a lot of them and left no stones unturned in my career path. Through my hard work I gained entry into National Institute of Technology-Bhopal (Formerly Regional Engineering College-Bhopal), one of the most prestigious technical schools in India. I also got a valuable opportunity to mingle with young bright minds. I am a very active member of ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education).This achievement made me a standout from other students.

My journey through the undergraduate program has been enlightening and challenging to my creativity. I acquired a clear understanding of the fundamentals as well as intricate aspects of multifarious areas in Electronics and Communication. I have been exposed to various subjects like Analog Communication, Digital Communication, Electronic Circuits I & II, Microprocessors and Microcontrollers, VLSI Design, Antenna Wave Propagation, Computer Networks, Optical Communication, TV and Radar, Satellite Communication, Instrumentation.

Being a quick learner I was able to grasp things quickly. I rely on practical understanding of concepts and my inquisitiveness was always well appreciated by my professors. This trait made me venture into VHDL and MATLAB for my final year project .With the tremendous support of my professors; I was able to achieve higher results. Initial obstacles did not deter me. I worked hard. Consequently obstacles became milestones for me.

Over the last few years, world has witnessed a significant growth in its semiconductor industry and communication technology in general and VLSI in particular. I foresee that the VLSI industry could become one of the main contributors for a nation’s economy in the decades to come.

I want my career to be taken up as a researcher. As the saying goes ‘known is a drop, Unknown is an ocean’, motivated me to work on this regard. Attending lectures on NANOTECHNOLOGY at the prestigious INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, DELHI opened new vistas for me. I gained a lot of information on the current areas of research. The workshop on Robotics at the INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, BOMBAY motivated me to work on microcontroller programming which is very essential in Embedded Systems.

I chose to work my way to the top through an engineering degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Knowing that my goals needed to be well grounded, I put in the best of my efforts to ensure that I secured admission to the prestigious Bachelors Programme in Mechanical engineering at the Madha Engineering College which is affliated to Anna University; a premier centre of technical excellence.The milestone of my career had been achieved successfully. My course of study in Mechanical Engineering has given me a strong foundation in areas of Thermodynamics, Strength of Materials, Theory of Machines, Fluid Dynamics, Manufacturing Science and Mathematics.Along with such core subjects I also had electrical and electronics subjects as a part of my electives.

I have presented many technical papers in topics like sensors and hydraulic systems.I elected to do my final year project entitled “VAPOUR ABSORPTION SYSTEM” (Air Conditioning) in North Chennai Thermal Power Plant, Chennai in the year 2006.A ten days of In plant training at Siemens Baroda (Gujarat State) in the subject of “Steam turbines” exposed me to industries and various modern techniques used in todays production technology. I have also gone through a training at Mettur Thermal Power Plant at Mettur (Tamilnadu State). This training was very useful for me to understand and get familiarized with the operations of

thermal power plants. Apart from this, I have gone through many industrial visits as a part of my undergraduate studies. In the school of mechanical engineering at Madha Engineering College all my faculty members provided me a strong foundation in understanding the basics of Mechanical Engineering.I am extremely thankful to them for providing their constant support in terms of both academics and ethical values.

I believe that extra curricular activities play a very important role in building up a sharp mental acumen.It also helps in stimulating our concentrating ability which is very helpful for our academics also. Right from my childhood I have been having a great liking for music and dance. I have completed my diploma in Hindutani Classical Music (Vocal) at M.S university in Baroda.I have also undergone five years of training in Indian Classical Dance, Bharathanatyam.Presently I am learning Karnatic Classical Music (Vocal) under the able guidance of my teacher Mr.C.Vaidyanathan in Chennai.

I have always felt medicine and communication are realms where scientific progresses will have the most positive effect for the betterment of human society. During school days my participation in exhibitions and seminars were focused mainly on Physics and Biology. Later, after my schooling, I chose communication engineering because I felt that getting people closer is what the information age is all about and I wanted to make contributions to this era, which is now dawning.

With my undergraduate education coming to a finale, I am once again, at one of the crossroads of life where I have to take a major decision, which finally shapes my future. Graduate study is a significant milestone in the perpetual journey to “Education”. With due reverence to the Department and the University, I pen down a “Statement of Purpose”. This statement is an attempt to project my credentials as an aspiring researcher, my achievements as an Engineer and my ambitions.

Looking back today, I have always been a consistent performer right from my school days. This is evident from my under graduation which ultimately lauded me first class degree with 77%. My undergraduate study at St.Peters Engineering College affiliated to ANNA UNIVERSITY had a tremendous impact in shaping my future. During this period I had an inclination towards the design, configuration and management of converged communication networks. The reason to opt for Electrical Engineering with specialization in Computer Networks as the major, was my fascination with ‘network protocols’ and to contribute the current industry demands for innovative network designs, development of new network applications and services for business enterprises.

To optimize my theoretical knowledge I took all the practical courses very seriously. It is the reason that I have always been able to secure excellent marks in my practical examinations. This also led me to do an In-Plant Training in Bharath Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), one of the biggest telecommunication industries undertaken by the government of India. Here I had a detailed understanding of the function, operations and management of network infrastructure components, including routers, switches, access points, and servers.

Due to my profound interest in the field of Communication, I did my project on ‘GSM Based Centralized Control for Advertising System’. The main objective of this project is to update the dot-matrix display using mobile communication. All these have influenced me a lot to gain more knowledge in telecommunication and networks and to do some research in this area.

To keep myself abreast with latest technologies, and considering the ubiquitous nature of computers, I updated myself with the latest software developments by taking up a diploma course at NIIT, a reputed institute in India. Here I have learned Software languages like C, C++ and Java. I made myself proficient in operating systems like Win 9x, Win me, Win XP, Linux. I actively participated in seminars at both inter and intra university level and I had the privilege to deliver seminar on the topics “VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and BLUETOOTH” which were both of primary interest to me. The learning was not confined to classroom study only but also included industrial tours to Bharath Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Doordarshan India’s National Broadcaster and Sri Hari Kota Atomic Research Station (SHAR).

With this wide spread of knowledge, I planned to take up a detail study in Telecommunication and Network Management. I am surefooted that I could do wonders in this fields by means of talent and knowledge, which I gained during my under graduation. This fascination for science is the impetus behind all my achievements and my decision to pursue Graduate study. To be competent and competitive I will require a master’s degree. A master’s degree will give me the up-to-date tools and knowledge that are the need of the hour.

At the age of 13 understanding the facts and innovation made me to get inclined towards SCIENCE. This is the reason I took science as major in my high school .Six years ago I was at the crossroads. I was bent on becoming an engineer. But, why Mechanical? Mechanical is the vehicle on which the world is poised to drive into the new era. Mechanical Engineering is a diverse field with wide range of applications in every walk of life. This was the evident reason that propelled my passion to pursue an undergraduate degree in Mechanical and to work as a Design engineer for two years.

I have always yearned to learn sophisticated and challenging areas in the field of Mechanical and this wish of mine was partially fulfilled by my undergraduate education and at my work place -Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The challenges and possibilities for research in the field of Mechanical Engineering fascinates me. This, I believe has come about through a sequentially structured introduction to this field through my work experience and interest in courses like: Mechatronics, Robotics, Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Dynamics & Control Systems. The urge to obtain an in-depth understanding and specialized knowledge in my areas of interest have fuelled my passion to master the world of Mechanics. I have acquired an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering with distinction and I was the Topper for my Branch for three consecutive Years during my course with an aggregate of 75%. I believe that I am a creative person and differ from rest of the men who see things as they are and say WHY? Where as I dream things that never were and say WHY NOT? I always consider myself an effective communicator. I was nominated as learning and development coordinator to take sessions and to represent my branch at Master of Ceremonies at Sankeithika 03, a national level technical symposium.

As a part of curriculum in my final year B.E. I took up a project titled “Online Monitoring Of Tool Wear and Surface Roughness Using Acoustic Emission Analysis” which was a research oriented project. Tool Wear detection and surface roughness parameters have gained more importance with the progression of flexible and unmanned manufacturing systems. The project automates the detection of cutting tool wear and surface roughness using acoustic emission and roundness analysis. Acoustic emission is captured by the microphone and is made available to the MATLAB software which in turn shows the deviation signals on computer display. The roughness deviation is captured through an LVDT having a resolution of 2µm. The signal conditioner will further process these signals and send it to data acquisition card which will convert these signals to digital format. The digital data is thus made available for the software to obtain the resultant data files. The project got many appreciations and got nominated for many of the technical symposium. The project was ranked first in the entire College. This Project was prudently implemented in a firm named V.B.Mines and Alloys, Bellary.

I have two years of work Experience on CATIA V5, Mainframes (Cobol, JCL, MVS) and SQL and DB2. I have been awarded for my Outstanding Performance which was published in the TCS News letter. For the past two years I have been rated 4 of a maximum possible rating of 5 being one among the top 10% of the hundred thousand employees the world over. Apart from learning these technical concepts I have learnt team building, team managing skills and Stress management as I was the module lead for a team of four. These achievements were just a part of my goal. My passion for Control & automation concepts has always been in my mind for years and I thought now is the time to step up and turn my passion to deeds. This is the time to efficiently use both the knowledge I tapped through my undergraduate education and the experience I gained at my place of work to explore my passion. Now, I have started applying the skills I extracted from my work experience to understand the concepts of automation technology which involves an interdisciplinary engineering. My decision to pursue graduate study in the United States is underscored by my desire to be a part of the graduate program at your institution. Today’s competitive arena demands every individual to be highly motivated and innovative. My obsession to achieve my goals has driven me to plan my work systematically and to work out my plan meticulously.

I had completed my bachelor’s in the stream of Electronics and Communication Engineering at L.C.R College of Engineering and Technology affiliated to Anna University. It was during my formative and impressionable years that the electronics wizardry greatly excited me and so when it came to making a decision about my undergraduate studies, Electronics and Communication Engineering was a natural choice. Some of other reasons for choosing this discipline were its magnificent accomplishments in the past and the sheer promise it holds out for the future.

I am glad that my course has covered a whole gamut of inter related subjects from the Electronics and Computer departments. I can best describe myself as a person having “Sound mind with a sound body”. I have taken up courses on Electronic Devices, Signals and Systems, Network Analysis and Systems, Control Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Computer Architecture, Computer Communication Networks, Optical Communication, Programming and Data Structures, Microprocessors, Communication Theory and Systems, Antenna and Wave propagation among others.

My eagerness to apply theoretical knowledge in practice applied me to do a couple of mini projects namely “Automated water level control” and “Home Automation”. A strong foundation is a necessity for meeting the exacting demands of research work. Thus, I did my final project named “Wireless Radio Frequency Technology Based Mapping and Localization of People Movements”.

My undergraduate curriculum seated my penchant to computers partially which could be fulfilled by my master’s. Even though I had subjects related to computers in my curriculum, my appetite to learn more about computers was not satisfied. This made me to complete some diploma courses in it, which was comprised of cutting edge technologies like SAP (ABAP), MCSE, CCNA, LINUX, JAVA and certified by Microsoft as a System Associate.

In parallel to my academics, I had contributed to my college NSS wing as a forerunner and organized some special camps in association with Anna University and also represented in university games and placed in the podium.

I have been consistently preparing myself to meet the requirements of this goal that I have set for myself. In the years to follow, I see myself evolving as a person with the necessary skills to take up a career in computing department and research work in the same. For the University Project entitled, “ The Future of Endangered Aborigines and Environment of Andaman and Nicobar Islands “ sanctioned by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, I have been to Andaman and Nicobar Islands,where I stayed for more than one year and worked in the field of Primitive Tribal groups especially on Shompens, Onges and Great Andamanese. I did the Research on their Population, Bio-Anthropological, Nutrition and Health, Social Organization, Economic Organization and strategies for their Development, Island Eco-System, Environmental Degradation and an Eco-Development Approach.

The Research was undertaken with the Approach that the Aboriginal Population of the World till today presents a very gloomy picture of stagnation. The first complete enumeration of the Shompen Tribe, Settlement wise was a great achievement and was first of its kind done by anybody before.

My passion for science led me to take up science steam in Higher Secondary Home Science then followed as the next choice. Throughout the duration of my course, I have been introduced to a broad inter-disciplinary basis which includes Sociology, Education, Biological and Physical Sciences, Psychology, Economics, Management and Architecture. These Disciplines have given me new insights into the growth and development of human systems and have contributed much to the widening of the concept of Human Resource Development.

I have done,”A Study on Legal Literacy Awareness and Assessment in Pondicherry Region” during my Post-Graduation. Legal Literacy is one of the important facts necessary for the individuals in leading a happy life. When an Analysis was taken for a group of people it was found that they ranked only under the Average level. This would not be expected and sufficient for an individual if they were kept in the dark for long without any knowledge on their rights. Individual should be brought out of their traditional bonds and should be able to view in a more broad minded aspect.

In M.Phil ,the topic of my Dissertation was,” Assessing the Role Performance of the Anganwadi Workers in the ICDS Programme, Coimbatore ” .I have taken this Research with the Approach that Children are the Principal Human Assets for the Welfare and Development of a Nation.

have participated in the National Workshop on,”The process of Tribal Development and the Present Day Tribal Conditions” Organized by the Department of Anthropology at Pondicherry University.

All these elements have given me a very broad outlook, with varying degrees of knowledge in a range of Topics.

I want to attend University of Bridgeport, Master of Human Resource Development Program for very valuable reasons like research facilities and the best faculties. The focused structure of the course will help me concentrate and work towards the attainment of my Career goals.
